Every senior secondary school leaver in Nigeria is probably familiar with NECO. We all write the NECO SSCE before leaving SS3 which decides whether we would be fit to move on to tertiary institutions. In this article, I will be showing you how to check NECO result when they are released.

There are two ways on how to check NECO result. They are:

1. The NECO result checker online and
2. Sending a text message to 32327

I will be talking about each step in this article so you are aware of the steps you can take to check your NECO result when they come out. Without further ado, let’s get into each step.

How to Check NECO Result Online

Almost everyone has access to the internet. If you have a smartphone with data on it, you can check your NECO result online through the NECO result checker platform. To check your NECO result online, follow the steps below:

1. Log on to result.neco.gov.ng
2. When the page loads, you will find the result checker platform.
3. Enter your exam year in the first box
4. Select the NECO exam type you wrote
5. Enter the NECO token
6. Finally, enter your NECO exam number
7. Cross-check your details to be sure they are correctly entered and click “CHECK RESULT”

The NECO token is a 12-digit number which is required to check your result. If you do not have the token also known as the result checker PIN, you can purchase one on the NECO Result Checker platform. When you visit the result checker page, you will see a “Purchase Token” button. Click on the button to proceed to the payment gateway to buy a token.

If your phone is not displaying your result, you should consider using a laptop. Visit a café if you do not have a laptop. Checking your NECO result with a laptop is not different from the steps above.

How to Check NECO Result using Mobile Phone

The National Examination Council (NECO) has made it easy to check your NECO result even with a mobile phone. If you wrote the NECO examination and would like to check your result, you can do so with your mobile phone. This step does not require an internet connectivity.

To check NECO result using mobile phone, follow the steps below:

1. Open your phone’s messaging app
2. Type in your NECO examination number, examination year, examination type, and scratch card PIN
3. Send those details to the number 32327
4. The message format should be like “01234567AB:2008:Jun/July:782746989696”
5. Your NECO result will be sent to you within 15 minutes

The SMS line is open to all networks and costs only 30 naira per SMS. Although, we are not certain if this step will work for persons who recently wrote NECO and this is because NECO has introduced tokens and one can hardly come by scratch cards.

How to Check NECO Result for Free

There is no free way to check NECO result. You can boycott any means to check your NECO result without purchasing the NECO result checker PIN or token. If you are checking your result online using the NECO Result Checker, you are sure going to purchase a token. Alternatively, using the SMS method requires you buy a scratch card while you get charged 30 naira for each SMS.

On a final note, you will need to create an account on the NECO result website at www.neco.gov.ng before you can purchase a token and check your result. You do not need to pay heavy café charges before you can check your NECO result. With the steps I have outlined, you can easily check your NECO result from the comfort of your device.
