The reason for this reduction in the price of the University Tertiary Matriculation Examination [UTME] form fee was however stated by the Joint Admission Matriculation Board [JAMB] in their last meeting.

The Board said that the reduction in the form and registration fee was brought about simply to alleviate the heavy burden of the cost of the examination on parents.

According to the Board’s Head of Media, Dr Fabian Benjamin He said this in a statement on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, while reacting to the reduction as earlier announced by the Federal Government.

When is UTME 2022/2023 Starting?

LATEST UPDATE: The JAMB 2022/2023 examination date finally been announced.

The JAMB 2022 examination date has been announced.

Who are those Eligible to Register for 2022/2023 UTME Screening Exercise?

According to the JAMB registrar, Oloyede, He said,

It is difficult to say the exact number of applicants we are expecting this time. We expect to crash the number because many of those who are taking the forms are not even prepared or qualified for the exam. Some are SS1 students, who are just trying, contributing N5,000 unduly to our purse. We are putting in some checks to make people who want to apply to be minimally qualified. We are not interested in the money. We are interested in having adequate preparations for those who are genuine students.

Prof. Is-haq Oloyede

Logically, speaking, the reason is undoubtedly genuine and it isn’t advisable to write the JAMB exam while you have not had an idea of the secondary school scheme of work. Therefore it is very wrong to consider writing the JAMB examination while still in SS1.
